Postcards were sent between the 1900s and the 1950s from various friends and/or colleagues to either Thomas Whittemore or Boris N. Ermoloff. For example, there is a postcard from “Boris” to Whittemore (to Athens, Greece) on April 1, 1928 concerning the sender's trip to Bourges and Burgundy with “Mrs Cram & Betty ; ” a postcard, possibly, from Charles Holmes Aldrich (from Rome) to Whittemore (to Istanbul, Turkey) on November 2, 1935 ; and a postcard from [ ? ] to Whittemore on “2.1.1924” that states, “Please send with the / things from chemist / 4 metres of oiled [ ? ]. / We want it for trying to secure the painted / plaster from the new house / being excavated. ”.
