Contains information about the general operations, activities, and finances of the Paris Library staff between 1947 and 1948, as well as the “archaeological work in Istanbul churches [specifically in Hagia Sophia, Kariye Camii, Fethiye Camii, and the Hippodrome] conducted by the Byzantine Institute”.

Observations :

  • The staff of the Paris Library of The Byzantine Institute between 1947 and 1948 included: “Librarian - Mr. B.N. Ermoloff / Secretary - Mr. V.N. Rayevsky / Scientific attachés - Mr. W. [or possibly M] Frolov & Mr. M. Malinine / Assistant Librarian - Mr. V. Palachkovsky / [and] Janitor & Concierge - M. Emile Vouay.”
  • The Byzantine Institute fieldwork staff between 1947 and 1948 included: Thomas Whittemore, Edwin Angst, Alan Breese, Nicholas Corolana, Anthony Durnoff (or possibly Dornoff), Robert Gardner, Alwyn Green, Tahsin Guccu, Ernest Hawkins, Walter Hoyle, Nicolas Kluge, Howard Koeper, John Lee, John Loveless, Jean Mercenier, Evangelides Photrides, and two Turkish guardians.
