Dear Mr Whittemore,
Many thanks for your kind note of Oct. 4, just found on my arrival from New York. Halil has written me a charming letter, which I shall answer as soon as I get from
Baltimore the information that he needs. I am therefore requesting him to wait till I hear. You will be very welcome next month, but may find us somewhat distraught by the preparations for Barbara's wedding on the 21st.
I am greatly obliged to you for having so tactfully communicated the facts as to the
