Dear Mr Wittemore
Heidelberg, 18/7 35
(Charlottenberg, Bismarkstrasse 72)
When I was in Paris a few weeks ago I also visited the Byzantine Library, where I was introduced to Mr Ermoloff by Mrs Hooper in London. It seemed to me a splendid collection of books for the Byzantine studies and I wish I could have studied there for my ivory- publication. I suppose many things would then have come out better. Mr. Ermolofff sent me the first publication of the Hagia Sophia-mosaics which was given out by the library and I hope that he acted not against your good will. So I must thank you too for this nice present. The fine lunette in the narthex I saw reproduced in the times and I wish you will succeed just as well with your present work. With all good wishes and with cordial greetings yours
Adolph Goldschmidt
I was so sorry to hear, that you were in Berlin, when I just had been away. I hope to have more luck next time
